Headmaster's WelcomeThe British School of
Tashkent currently provides the English National Curriculum to children from Pre-nursery
to Year 3 (2-7 years).
As a parent choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make. Ensuring high academic standards is obviously important but we believe that what distinguishes an excellent school is its ability to foster a genuine love of learning in each and every child, as well as a sense of pride in their own achievements. A strong work ethic permeates the school, among both staff and pupils, and it is fair to say that BST is “A place where you can achieve your academic potential and have a great time as well”. We believe that an ordered and cared for surrounding is necessary for a child to feel secure and at home in their school. Here at BST this is expressed in a variety of ways, from the neat, attractive layout and organisation of classrooms to the uniform and smart dress worn by staff and pupils. Our unique, state of the art campus is supported by a powerful ICT infrastructure, including interactive whiteboards in every class, a purpose built computer suite and a digital library. The school furthermore prides itself of excellence in sport, the arts and music and, from the Autumn Term 2011, children will have the use of our brand new swimming pool and dance studio. Our teaching team is a mixture of British and local talent, a formula that we believe will ensure the kind of stability and staff retention necessary for the development of our school. All teachers are either UK qualified or have been subject to rigorous training at other schools within the British Schools Group. Our commitment to the continuing professional development of staff is central to the school ethos and in-service training occurs regularly, ensuring that all teachers have an up-to-date knowledge of the latest advances in UK teaching methodologies. English is the language of instruction in all lessons, the only exception being Russian that is taught as a foreign language. We aim to provide children not only with a standard of education equivalent to top private schools in the UK but also to give them access to the same resources, technologies, activities, events and learning experiences. We hope that our website is informative and provides you with some insight into the key aims and values of our school; however, there is no substitute for a visit to our campus and seeing the curriculum in action.
